Primary Role/ Responsibility
The Quality Assurance Analyst will support the quality program for Applewood Seed Co and will work primarily at our onsite facility in Arvada, CO. This position will be responsible for seed analysis activities as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager with the primary tasks including purity and germ testing, TZ testing, and other tests as needed. Testing is performed on all new lots as well as cycle testing on in-house lots. The Quality Assurance Analyst will also assist the QA Manager in maintaining records and results in our ERP software and reporting results to internal stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Check in and divide samples for testing.
- Conduct purity, noxious, germination, tetrazolium, and other tests on service samples, according
to current AOSA, ISTA, and Canadian Methods and Procedures rules. - Evaluate reported results to determine seed lot conformance to ASCO, RUSSL, and FSA
standards. - Assist with development and implementation of seed moisture testing protocols.
- Assist with seed grow-out activities.
- Assist with document reviews and implementation of changes.
- Assist with monitoring, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment.
- Perform toxicity tests on newly purchased media.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Outlook, etc.)
- Operation of lab equipment: including scales, microscopes, and noxious seed examination table
- High fine motor abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members
- Ability to work with limited supervision; highly self-motivated
- Solid math and analytical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Willingness to learn a task not currently in skillset

Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A.A.S. or B.S. in Agricultural Science or agriculture related field.
Experience
- 1-2 years of lab experience
or - 1-2 years of horticultural experience or related field.
Physical Demands/Office Environment
- Ability to travel, including overnight travel. (5% or less)
- Ability to walk distances in outdoor field conditions.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout the building, including stairs.
